Wired, Fortune publish Steve Jobs ebooks Wired and Fortune moved quickly to publish Steve Jobs’ ebooks following his death. What’s surprising is more publishing companies did not do so. Every magazine and newspaper company these days should be thinking like this. Even many independent publishers have whipped up quick Kindle ebooks –  you can see all of them here. Wired’s is available via its iPad app and the Kindle store.  More details here. Fortune’s, ironically, is only available via Kindle – no sign of it in the iPad app store.  More details here.
Vatican officials says tweets are ‘like the gospel’ Pope Benedict XVI will soon be opening his own Twitter account, a Vatican official announced, saying that tweets were in some ways similar to “the gospel.” “The tweet can be reformulated, redistributed, relaunched and disseminated,” said Father Claudio Maria Celli, the head of the Vatican’s pontifical council for social communications, as he announced the initiative. “In this sense it is like the gospel, a small mustard seed that once scattered grows into bushes where birds can rest.” It does not have quite the same ring as a papal bull, but Catholics looking to stay in touch with the Holy Father are about to get acquainted with the papal tweet. Fourteen centuries after popes started using papal bull missives to communicate with the flock, Benedict XVI is due to open a Twitter account, a  Vatican  official has announced. "The tweet can be reformulated, redistributed, relaunched and disseminated," said Fat

Pandora's One Stop Solution For Advertisers It has taken quite a bit of time for the advertising world to realize the advantages Pandora (NYSE: P ) can offer, but the word is getting out there and the response seems to be quite positive. Despite a challenging business model and competitive landscape, Pandora finds themselves in a niche that other services simply can not match. At least not yet. Because Pandora is delivered to specific users the company actually knows who is listening, when they listen, and what they listen to. These are key elements that advertisers want to know and get a handle on as best they can. For decades advertisers had no "REAL" idea of the audience their ads were playing to. Don't get me wrong, it has not been a total shot in the dark, but the reality is that the whole advertising community relied on ratings books that essentially had everyone capable of breathing listening to one station or another 24 hours per day. Pandora can ge

iPad 3′s Retina display will bring news reading closer to print experience The new iPad could finally elevate the text reading experience on a tablet to something much more akin to reading a printed newspaper, magazine or book,  says Poynter’s Patrick Thornton. “The blurry, pixelated text from the relatively low-resolution iPad 1 and 2 always stood out. iPad news apps may have great looking photos, videos and interactive graphics, but text — often the core of what a news organization produces — doesn’t look that good, especially in comparison to what humans have been able to enjoy for hundreds of years… The new iPad will allow news apps to look much closer to the printed text found in a glossy news magazine, but apps will need to be rewritten to look proper on this new display, and all art assets will have to be redone as well.”
How to generate thousands of dollars in ad revenue with one story Yet another brilliant satirical critique of journalism today  from The Onion , which wrote a story proclaiming, “this news article is generating a veritable bonanza of highly lucrative advertising revenue by mere virtue of the fact that it mentions Apple’s new iPad.” “Current estimates show that the particular article I am being quoted in at this very moment began to accumulate thousands of dollars in ad-based profits as soon as the words ‘new iPad’ appeared in the headline,” said market analyst Jonathan Bowers, who single-handedly and out of thin air created cold hard cash for a media organization simply by adding that the new Apple iPad will feature a high-definition screen and an improved processor. ”Furthermore, any subsequent mention of the new iPad in this article—as well as any mention of the fact that preorders for the device start today—is resulting in increased reader traffic and, thus, increased rev
Mobile, tablet devices increase news consumption New research shows that mobile and tablet devices are increasing American’s news consumption, according to the 2012 State of the News Media report by Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism. More than a quarter of Americans (27%) now get news on mobile devices, and for the vast majority, this is increasing news consumption, the report finds. “Data tracking people’s behavior, for instance, finds that mobile devices increased traffic on major newspaper websites by an average of 9%,” the report says. Here are some of the more interesting findings from the report related to mobile and tablet usage: Data from Localytics, a client-based mobile analytics firm, analyzed by PEJ reveals that people spend far more time with news apps on the smartphone and tablet, visit more pages at a sitting, and return more frequently than they do on conventional computers. That data, the report says, reinforce findings from previou

C orruption in india *** Excerpts from  Gen V K Singh uncovers Armsgate Scam *** Delhi is the nest of no fewer than six dozen international arms dealers , and they are the most desirable of friends to have in the national capital of what is effectively the world’s fourth-largest economy. Every week, each of them throws at least one if not more parties, at which liquor flows in the same profusion was water into bathtubs. The pot-bellied, ageing politicians and civil servants – now joined by a smattering of those in uniform – in attendance do not bring their wives along, for in such gatherings, there are numerous charming young ladies who attach themselves to the powerful attendees throughout the evening. What they whisper into the ancient, unsightly ears of the senior civil servants, select military brass and politician is not known, but whatever it be, the honeyed tone is effective. Contract after contract gets awarded in profusion to the lucky hosts, who are usually called

The 21 Sikhs "Outnumbered and surrounded And still the men fought on With a stubbornness and pride for which, The Sikhs have long been known." The ball-busting defense of the tiny-yet-critical British fortress at Saragarhi is one of the most storied and famous tales of skull-crushing bravery in the  already-badass  military history of the Sikh people. The middle-finger-u-death response of the ferocious 21 men who bravely held their ground against impossible odds is often held up as the ultimate example of Sikh badassitude, which is really saying something considering that these balls-out Indian hardasses have stories about shit like the dude who ran around pureeing enemy soldiers apart even  after being mostly decapitated  by a broadsword to the throat. Yet despite this epic showdown being the basis for a national holiday among Sikhs and a valiant, head-cleaving last stand worthy of the  Spartans at Thermopylae , this insane tale of 21 warriors going Horde Mode against r
